The Ultimate Performance Cooling Collaboration For The Audi RS6 / RS7
Introducing the CSF by PWR RS6 / RS7 Intercooler Set – the ultimate cooling solution for anyone looking to take their Audi’s performance to the next level. CSF has an industry-leading reputation and possesses deep knowledge of high-performance Audi cooling systems that is unmatched in the aftermarket. When this knowledge is combined with PWR’s manufacturing and engineering expertise honed over 20 years in motorsports like NASCAR and F1, it creates something extraordinary for Audi enthusiasts.
With a focus on innovation, reliability, and customer satisfaction, CSF and PWR are dedicated to pushing the limits of Super Saloon cooling technology and providing unparalleled support to their clients.
The Craftsmanship & Engineering Behind Race-Inspired Cooling Technology
Our Audi RS6 / RS7 intercooler set is handcrafted and tig welded in the USA, ensuring the highest level of craftsmanship and durability that is unmatched anywhere else in the aftermarket. The end tanks are made from in-house CNC machined billet aluminum, making the product look as good as it performs. The billet tanks can handle much higher boost pressures and have much better heat rejection properties when compared to the OEM tanks, which can fail under increased boost pressures.
The core design features a Formula 1-grade dual-row core construction with turbulated tubes and R-fins. This same core design is also utilized in other CSF by PWR core designs like in the Lamborghini Urus, Porsche 992 Turbo/S, and 991 GT2RS, which have shown incredible results. The turbulators inside the tube create turbulent airflow inside, allowing for a greater heat transfer rate than a hollow tube with laminar flow. The fins used in the core are hemmed & louvered, increasing strength and surface area contact to create even more heat rejection potential. When compared to the OEM intercoolers that are prone to heat soaking, there are roughly double the number of tubes and much smaller fin height, increasing pressure drop but greatly increasing the heat rejection potential. With the OEM intercoolers, the new C8 platform starts to exhibit heat soak and run-away increases in IATs, which then triggers the ECU system to pull timing out of the engine and subsequently lowers performance. By eliminating the dreaded heat soak factor of the stock intercoolers, our intercoolers unlock a whole new potential for tuning and reliability for your Audi RS6 / RS7.
Not only does our intercooler set look great with its pristine welds and billet end tanks, but it’s also easy to install! This unit comes with all the necessary hardware, mounting brackets, and utilizes the factory mounting and hoses as well.
Dyno Testing
CSF has a reputation for working with some of the best tuning shops in the world for R&D and obtaining real-world data from tuning experts. CSF once again teamed up with leading Southern California VAG specialists, VF Engineering and Pacific German, to develop and dyno test the Audi RS6/RS7 intercooler kit. With their help, we were able to get before and after IAT data with a stock tune and a VF Engineering Stage 2 tune.
Lead Technician at Pacific German Tyler Setterstrom had this to say about the coolers, “We tested the CSF by PWR intercooler upgrade with a tuned RS6 at VF Engineering using their in-house Mustang four wheel dyno. In doing so, we were able to see real world abuse on the stock intercoolers by starting with a tuned RS6, performing several back-to-back dyno pulls with 50 seconds cool down in between pulls (1-minute intervals with 10 second pulls). We then flashed the car to the OEM tune and ran the same back-to-back pulls on the dyno. Once we had the data collected for the OEM intercoolers, we removed the bumper cover and swapped out the factory units for the upgraded CSF by PWR intercoolers, and immediately tested the car again using the same methodology and controlled testing, with a OEM tune and then flashing onto the vehicle, the VF Engineering Stage-2 performance tune.
The dyno cell was 8°F warmer in the afternoon, during the testing with the CSF by PWR intercoolers installed, than the morning tests of the OEM intercoolers. However, we saw a huge improvement despite the warmer conditions. With the OEM intercoolers, the temperature rose 20°F on average every pull on the dyno. With the CSF by PWR intercoolers, the temperature dropped 4°F on average every pull on the dyno. Some pulls at peak temperatures were 30°F cooler with the upgraded CSF by PWR intercoolers compared to the OEM units. The OEM intercoolers began to show signs of heat soak around the 3rd pull, however with the CSF by PWR intercoolers recovery was nearly instant and showed minimal signs of heat soak even after the 5th pull.”
Below is the IAT results from the dyno sessions.
These two graphs show the comparison of OEM (Top) and CSF by PWR Intercoolers (Bottom) with a factory OEM engine tune on an Audi C8 RS6. As you can see from the graphs above, the OEM intercoolers start to exhibit heat soak early on in the testing, already starting to affect performance on the 3rd dyno pull. IATs go up with engine speed. With the CSF by PWR intercoolers, the temperature drops as engine speed increases, and recovery between dyno pulls is very quick.
The second set of graphs compares the OEM (Top) and CSF by PWR Intercoolers (Bottom) with VF Engineering Stage-2 engine performance software. In these graphs, like the previous ones as well, the OEM intercoolers allow for heat to rise as engine speed increases. With the CSF by PWR Intercoolers, the intake air temperatures drop as engine speed increases. IATs are much more stable with the upgraded CSF by PWR units compared to the OEM intercoolers.
Ready To Unleash The Full Potential Of Your RS6/RS7?
By reducing the amount of heat-soaked air going into your Audi RS6/RS7, you will see higher and more consistent horsepower, allowing for easier tuning and better overall health and reliability for your engine. It’s no wonder why the CSF by PWR intercoolers are an easy choice for high-performance enthusiasts looking to unleash the full potential of their car. Upgrade with confidence to the CSF by PWR Audi RS6/RS7 Intercooler Set and experience the unfair advantage in cooling technology!
Testimonial from QSTuning (United Kingdom)
“We were seeing IATs [intake air temperatures] rising to 80+°C on stock cars with a fifth gear dyno pull. At the time there were limited options. We looked into CSF as I know they do some great cooling solutions on the 991/992 Porsche market. They appeared to have the best solution on the market with PWR’s F1-grade cores and billet end tanks. We got a set in for our shop car, threw them on and instantly gained 40hp and IATs dropped by around half.”
From then on we have used CSF intercoolers on all of our higher power RS 6/7 builds and haven’t looked back since.
